So. 

Most likely, you will disagree with a lot of things in this website.

That's okay. In fact, I'm hoping you're here for exactly this reason. 

​

We hear a lot about "polarization" in today's society. The media is polarized, politics are polarized, we're told we have an "echo chamber". 

​

We're told all of this by the same people who are creating said echo chamber. Go figure. The people who divided us are making money by telling us how divided we are.

​

Here's the thing. I think the vast majority of us agree on more than we think we do. Or at the very least, there's a distinct thread within our souls that recognizes each other. "Hey," it says, "I may not agree with everything you're saying, but I get where you're coming from. I understand how you could feel that way."  

​

I've come to believe that the primary problem is not that we have fundamental differences. The primary problem is that life on Earth is hard - so hard. And we don't have the systems or mechanisms to put into practice the things we all agree are necessary. 

​

Anyway. 

​

As you continue reading, I ask you one thing: Keep an open mind. If I say something you disagree with, keep reading, and give me the benefit of the doubt. Extend to me the assumption that I am a good person, or at the very least I am a person trying my best to be a good person, doing my best to navigate the complexity of this world. 

​

Okay, maybe that's a couple of things. Let me add a few more. I'm on a roll, I can feel it.

​

If you are not a religious person, I challenge you to check out some of the spiritual topics anyway. I guarantee you'll be surprised by what you find.  

​

The things that we need to talk about defy black and white thinking. They laugh at the idea of clear-cut opinions. 

​

Live in the gray with me. Live in the in-between, the extreme vulnerability of open-mindedness, the willingness to accept all pieces of evidence. 

​

Give me some grace when I say something you disagree with, and explain to me why you disagree. Give me the sides you see that maybe I don't. Consider the thoughts I've provided that maybe you haven't thought of before. 

​

Together, we can find the truth.
